In September 2024, the selection programme for the team of volunteers for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games of Milano Cortina 2026 was launched. The selection process involved thousands of candidates, allowing to build Team26, made up of 18,000 volunteers from all over Italy and abroad. Volunteers are an essential part of the organisation of the Games, due to their active contribution to operational management of events and the reception of athletes, delegations and the international audience. They will play a key role in ensuring a high-level experience and promoting the values of hospitality, cooperation and inclusion. Among the tasks envisaged, volunteers will also be involved in the official ceremonies of the Games, contributing to their performance in a setting of extraordinary historical and cultural value. On 22 February and 6 March 2026, the Arena di Verona – one of the most iconic symbols of Italian and international artistic heritage – will host the Closing Ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games and the Opening Ceremony of the Winter Paralympic Games, respectively. These two events of global importance will bring music, art and sport in a unique setting, and will be broadcast worldwide. The Milano Cortina 2026 volunteer programme is an important civic and cultural experience, embodying the spirit of participation that distinguishes major international events.
