VENETO IN ACTION

The Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026 proposes the programme for implementation of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

As part of its functions, the Foundation has started the process of drawing up the Programme for Implementation of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Milan-Cortina 2026, as provided for in Article 1, paragraph 2 of Law 31 of 8 May 2020 (also known as the ‘Olympic Law’).

This Programme, in line with the commitments made in the Application Dossier, is subject to the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) procedure, as it could have effects on the environment and cultural heritage, and thus, in view of the possible impacts on the conservation purposes of the Natura 2000 Network sites, an Environmental Implications Assessment is deemed necessary.

The Programme for implementation of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games therefore sees the Foundation in the role of proposer, and constitutes the tool by means of which it follows up on the activities of management, organisation, promotion and communication of sporting events assigned to it by law.

The object of the Programme is the temporary setting up (overlay) of all the venues necessary for the Games, as well as programming, organisation and coordination of all the functions and services necessary for the Games (including related events).

The Programme is divided into several operational subprogrammes, each of which focuses on specific user/stakeholder targets (e.g. Media, Athletes, Guests and public, etc.) or on specific service segments (temporary structures, food and beverages, logistics, transport, etc.).

The following areas of intervention make up the framework of the Programme:

•    - preparation and management of competitive and non-competitive venues
•    - design, construction and installation of overlays (temporary structures)
•    - design, construction and installation of equipment and networks for energy supply and technological and digital services
•    - management of Olympic villages and hotel accommodation (Accommodation)
•    - planning and organisation of transport services within and between venue clusters
•    - logistics organisation and planning
•    - support services for MPC/IBC (media and broadcasting, press and photographers)
•    - catering services (Food&Beverages)
•    - waste management and cleaning services (Waste&Cleaning).

The Programme for Implementation of the Games coordinates all the sector-based intervention programmes that the various sections of Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026 are developing in accordance with specific technical-functional needs connected to staging of the Games.
