In Cortina d'Ampezzo, the conference “Sport è scuola. Verso i giochi olimpici e paralimpici invernali di Milano Cortina 2026” (Sport is school. Towards the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games)
Venice, 4 March 2024. This morning, the conference “Sport is School. Towards the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games" was held in Cortina d’Ampezzo. It is promoted by the Department of Education of the Veneto Region as part of the "Veneto in Action" programme.
"The Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games represent an opportunity to introduce the whole world to the beauty of Veneto, but above all to create new job and growth opportunities for our young people. Sport is education, an opportunity for development and attractiveness of the territory in terms of professionalism, with opportunities to generate new organisational models. We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Fondazione Cortina and the Veneto Regional School Office (USRV), supported with a contribution of 200,000 euros, which aims to prepare our young people to face the challenges and opportunities that the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games will bring with them in addition to the legacy they will leave in the territory. The initiatives promoted will aim to educate new generations on the values of respect, friendship and fair play to spread the culture of inclusion and equal opportunities by breaking down barriers, to promote the participation of all, and to inspire young people to approach sport and adopt a healthy and active lifestyle”.
This was announced this morning in Cortina d'Ampezzo by the Councillor for Education and Training, Elena Donazzan, during the "Sport is school" conference. This initiative is promoted by the Department of Education of the Veneto Region as part of "Veneto in Action" and was attended by, among others, the mayor of Cortina, the vice-president of Fondazione Cortina, a thousand young people attending schools in the region, professionals from the sports world and representatives of schools that combine sports activities with their studies
