VENETO IN ACTION

From Beijing to Milan and Cortina, the baton today passes to us.

A territory of 22,000 square kilometres that represents economic dynamism and preserves unique landscape beauties in the world, and which together will give life to a sports project unparalleled in the history of the Olympic Games.

"A truly local organising committee, composed entirely of Venetian members, which will have to organise and promote activities, events, and any other initiative that can be part of an overall framework for the development and enhancement of our Region".

These were the words of the President of the Veneto Region at the signing of the Foundation's Articles of Association this morning at Palazzo Balbi.

The new Foundation counts among its members (in addition to the founding members) also the honorary founders: Andrea Comacchio, Regional Director of the territorial marketing, culture, tourism, agriculture and sport area; Stefano Campoccia, of the Province of Belluno; Gianpietro Ghedina, of the Municipality of Cortina; Igor Ghedina of the Cortina Ski Club; Elio Zardini of the Associazione Albergatori Cortina Federalberghi; Marco Zardini of the Consorzio Esercenti Impianti a Fune of Cortina, San Vito di Cadore and Auronzo/Misurina.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors is Stefano Umberto Longo. The Board of Directors of Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026 is composed of the following members: Stefano Umberto Longo, President; Mauro Giovanni Viti, the Regional Director of the Directorate for Economic Promotion and Territorial Marketing; Enrico De Bona, of the Province of Belluno; Americo Angaran, a member nominated by the Municipality of Cortina d'Ampezzo, and Federico Michielli, of the Cortina Ski Club. "Veneto is officially the Olympic venue and the name of Cortina is on everyone's lips”, said the Governor.

“We were given a glimpse of what the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games will be like with the closing ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics: Veneto will have international visibility but also an Olympic wave that will result in investments, sports facilities, urban regeneration. A great opportunity for sport and for the renewal of infrastructure. We are talking about over 1 billion euro of investments in the entire province of Belluno to carry out works that perhaps without the Olympics would never have seen the light of day".
