The medium- and long-term regional development objectives regarding the integrated water service and water protection are aimed at implementing rationalisation and development of the service, guaranteeing the supply of good quality drinking water through an efficient use of water resources, and respecting the environment, as well as promoting infrastructural expansion of municipal water, sewage networks and purification systems.
In particular, with reference to the area of Belluno, interventions will be supported that are aimed on the one hand at reducing water losses in the water distribution and supply system, including the digitalisation and monitoring of networks, and on the other hand at the efficiency of wastewater collection and treatment services.
There is also a plan to update regional water supply planning by identifying strategic works aimed at increasing the resilience and efficiency of the water supply and distribution system through the identification of new sources and the construction of large supply pipelines, interconnections and expanded storage facilities.
È previsto inoltre l’aggiornamento della pianificazione acquedottistica regionale con l’individuazione delle opere strategiche finalizzate ad incrementare la resilienza e l’efficienza del sistema di approvvigionamento e distribuzione dell’acqua mediante individuazione di nuove fonti e realizzazione di grandi condotte di adduzione, interconnessioni e nuovi volumi di immagazzinamento.
The Region carries out its coordination activity through the appropriate steering committees with the Basin Councils and the Integrated Water Service Administrations aimed at identifying the most appropriate actions to be taken to achieve a reduction in water resource waste throughout the regional territory.
In this regard, it should be noted that the governing bodies of the optimal territorial areas of the integrated water service, called Basin Councils, have already submitted several projects for action in response to announcements issued by the competent Ministries for allocation of NRRP funding.
Among the interventions applying for funding through Mission 2, Component 4, Investment 4.2 "Reduction of losses in water distribution networks, including digitalisation and monitoring of networks", was the project entitled "Reduction of losses in water distribution networks, including digitalisation and monitoring" presented by the "Dolomiti Bellunesi" Basin Council (covering – among others – the area of Cortina d'Ampezzo). It has received funding for €20,446,400.00 out of a total expected sum of €25,646,267.00.
With regard to the sewerage and purification sector, during 2024 MASE also transferred to the Veneto Region € 2,250,000.00 from state funds to be used for “interventions to restore water harvesting or purification works, as well as water monitoring systems, in urgent situations related to calamitous events”, including construction of a purification plant in the Municipality of Rocca Pietore (BL) at a cost of € 1,300,000.00. Also in relation to the sewerage and purification sector, during 2024, it should be noted that with Regional Council Resolution no. 1296 of 14.11.2024 an amount of approximately € 600,000 was allocated for the implementation of works on the 1st project of the 2nd section for updating the BellunoMarisiga treatment plant. Also in 2024, with Regional Council Resolution no. 1407 of 28.11.2024, regional funds for an amount of € 150,000.00 were finally allocated for replacement of the simplified wastewater treatment system in Vielmi and the water collection system at the centralised plant of Domegge di Cadore (BL).
The financial plan for interventions related to reducing water consumption and improving water quality is based on the Four-Year Plans drawn up by the Integrated Water Service Managers. The regional planning, with a view to 2026, takes into account these forecasts and any additional public resources available. With regard to the Olympic Games (Province of Belluno and Municipality of Verona), investments are planned by 2026 for the reduction of water losses for an amount of approximately € 57 million (of which approximately € 42.6 million from NRRP funds).
