The Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games represent a golden opportunity to enhance the economic potential of the Veneto region, an area characterised by a strong presence of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and a highly attractive capacity represented by the presence of strategic production chains of excellence and industrial districts that represent an important growth factor for SMEs themselves.

The Games will be an opportunity for Veneto to enhance its economic potential, pursuing two main strategic objectives:

1. to stoke the regional policy of attracting investments: with particular reference to the areas peripheral to the Olympic event but then extended to the entire regional territory; policies and initiatives will be implemented to increase investment in innovation, to enhance the logic of the supply chain, promote processes of adaptation of skills. Related and complementary to the issue of the ability to attract investment is that linked to the objectives of the new regional energy policies.
2. to promote regional production excellence: the objective will be to use the Olympic event as a showcase to consolidate and expand the presence of production excellence also at international level by implementing specific actions on the production chains. This can be done by leveraging, in particular, on existing instruments such as regional legislation on industrial districts or Regional Innovative Networks (RIR); a particular focus will be reserved for the production chains most directly connected to the Games.

The following stakeholders are involved in the preparation of the strategic plan that has outlined the objectives and activities to be implemented:

• Chambers of Commerce
• Economic and social partners
• Municipalities
• Province of Belluno and Rules directly concerned with the event;
• Legal entities responsible for representing industrial districts and regional innovative networks;
• Leaders of consortia representative of regional production chains not included in the previous point
• Permanent technical working group referred to in Regional Law no. 15 of 5 July 2022 "Promotion of traditional quality ice cream in Veneto" and other regional working groups activated within the framework of specific regulations
• Possible reactivation of the Steering Committee for definition of development policies for the Venetian wood and furniture supply chain.
   

The objectives of the Production Activities Strategic Plan will be pursued with the implementation of initiatives and tools aimed at enhancing a territory also characterised by production excellence that deserves to be known, with the prospect of attracting new investments and skills, in particular in the province of Belluno.
