In view of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the Training and Education Directorate of the Veneto Region has developed a strategic plan that aims to maximise the positive impact of Olympic events on the training and education system of the regional territory. 

Three key objectives of the strategic plan:

1. Promotion of sports in schools: the objective is to integrate sport as an integral part of school education to promote the physical, psychological and academic growth of students. The promotion of physical activity from childhood is fundamental to improve general health and well-being, counteracting a tendency towards sedentary lifestyle that can lead to health risks. Sport can also contribute to the emotional well-being of students, alleviating stress and fostering a positive mindset, as well as promoting inclusion and the development of social skills.

2. Promotion of Olympic and Paralympic values: dissemination of the fundamental values of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (such as friendship, respect, integrity and sportsmanship) within educational institutions is functional to the transformation of the school into a foundry of conscious and responsible citizens.

3. Strengthening technical and professional skills for the Olympics: the objective is to develop skills consistent with the specific needs of the Olympic Games event, creating professional training opportunities aimed at the Olympic and Paralympic Games. This not only facilitates realisation of the events themselves, but also creates job opportunities for the new generations, helping to raise the standards of professionalism and competence in the sports sector, and promoting sustainable development and innovation in the field.

The achievement of these 3 key objectives involves a rich programme and implementation of activities that are aimed mainly at the student population. Some of these initiatives were already included in the list of regional policies, while others were planned ad hoc for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
